Rethinking the concept of “Word Art”
As a creative polymath, QUAD studio takes on the idea of urbanity with our underlying philosophy about place making, blurring the lines between different design narratives to create a bespoke narrative specifically designed for the discourse in hand. Redefining the concept of “Word Art” is a task we took to bring people to the waterfront. To begin, the team asks questions like, how do we create a unique and attractive object to draw people to the waterfront? How do we create an object to invoke a sense of belonging to the people who visits the waterfront?

The team had a consensus that we want to create a design that is more than just signage, we want to create an object that personifies the synergy between a Leisure Park and the Creative Arts, we want to create an object that is out of this world.

Taking reference from Art, Technology and Nature we derive an art installation Futuristic yet socially interactive and we call this Anamorphosis. Anamorphosis is when objects are a distortion of reality. At one angle, it is a signage that can be seen from the Victoria Harbour, at any other angle, the signage is a series of street furniture that visitors can interact perfect for stamping your name card on social media.
