Would love to learn more about this talk!
Thank you for your interest in "The Exploding metropolis"
To explain a little bit about the talk, we wanted to discuss the Future of the city. We believe that by 2047, Hong Kong and Shenzhen will be one big Megalopolis, but before we go there, lets have a look at how we come to this point in history;
The city of Shenzhen emerged from the industrial boom of the 1980s and 90s. People from all over China migrated to Shenzhen because it became the heart of manufacturing for the region. During this time, Hong Kong played the role of merchant, distributing merchandise all over the world, which created a strong working relationship between the two cities. However, when China opened up for trade 15 to 20 years ago, the partnership between Hong Kong and Shenzhen slowly weakened.
With the ambitious vision of China’s Central Government for the greater bay area, this creates an exciting opportunity for designers to rethink the future. This vision will ultimately lead to what’s known as, “The Exploding Metropolis,” a new era of collaboration between Shenzhen as the tech capital of China and Hong Kong, the incubator for design.
By year 2030, the development of the Greater Bay Area is set to be the biggest in the world in terms of GDP. How will this affect the way we live in the future?
Join industry leaders and thinkers as they explore innovative design solutions that could aid the economic success of the greater bay region.
